Our client is currently seeking a principal software development engineer for their private cloud platform.

This role will participate in driving architecture, design and implementation of worldwide private cloud platform to compete with cloud offerings from VMware, Nutanix, Amazon and Microsoft.


This individual will be responsible for architecture, detailed design and implementation of orchestration engine and backend orchestration capabilities of the platform both in the cloud environment as well as at the customer premises.

This is a software development position in a highly collaborative environment working directly with Development, QA, Operations and Product Management teams across geographies.

Must-have competences

Cloud, Orchestration, PhD


  • Master's Degree or PhD degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering (with programming skills/experience) or Computer Science (with hardware skills/experience) or, equivalent practical experience, such as:
  • Provable leadership and hands on role developing award or market winning cloud platform solutions;
  • Peer reviewed research papers, books, patent portfolio demonstrating innovation and leadership in private or public SaaS platform solutions with a focus on orchestration;
  • Experience developing and shipping commercial SW product or developing and supporting commercial SaaS platforml
  • Previous experience architecting, implementing, deploying and operating event and message driven SW solutions, finite state machines, stateless architectures, rules engines and rules based decision making systems;
  • Extensive experience with either C, C++ or Java, Working knowledge of both is preferred;
  • Understanding and experience with Boost C libraries;
  • Extensive experience with bash scripting;
  • Linux administration and/or development experience;
  • Previous experience deploying cloud services;
  • Excellent communications skills – able to work with teams across cultures fostering trust and collaboration. Comfortable presenting to large
  • groups and executives;
  • Must be able to attend frequent meetings outside of standard working hours, to accommodate teams in other time zones;
  • Excellent English speaking and writing skills;
  • Investigation and debugging skills.

Nice to Have:

  • Understanding and hands on experience with AMQP, Apache Qpid, JMS, AWS SQS and other messaging technologies and application using these technologies;
  • Experience with Python, Golang development;
  • Advanced networking experience;
  • Docker or Kubernetes experience;
  • Infrastructure management experience;
  • Previous experience deploying cloud services;
  • CI/CD experience including use of Git, Gerrit and Jenkins or other similar CI/CD tools and platforms;
  • OpenStack, VMWare vCloud or SDDS, AWS, Azure experience highly desired;
  • Cloud API development/debug experience;
  • RESTful API development experience;
  • Understanding of Cloud Security.
