Junior Quality Assurance Engineer

Our client is looking for a Junior QA Engineer to join their dedicated team with responsibility for proving quality across the full range of their top-up products and mobile operator interfaces. Working closely with the development team, you will have exposure to an online transaction processing system, web UI, mobile application, API and database testing. Working across different teams, you will engage with Product Managers helping to develop specifications with a user-first approach. Soft skills such as good communication and the ability to determine whether a software release should proceed are also important. As the technology team has transformed from Agile Scrum to Lean Kanban, you’ll be joining at a really interesting time of evolving autonomous teams, making independent decisions and having a full say in how and when work is delivered.

The Role

o Protecting and encouraging quality from the beginning through user spec reviews and the capture, prioritization and escalation of issues.
o With a user-first approach and having unique knowledge of the systems, work closely with product managers and the development team to produce the best features and functionality to increase our clients success.
o Using Lean Kanban methodologies to make autonomous decisions and release more frequently.

Required Skills

o Ability to detect potential issues for our user base before code development is complete
o Experience with driving quality at all levels within your team
o Exposure to testing web and back-end applications
o Exposure to OOP languages such as C# or Java.
o Solid experience of product and testing tools such as JIRA Agile, SwiftKanban, Bugzilla, Test Rail etc.
o Managing frequent release cycles.
o Ability to interrogate databases using SQL.
o 1 years’ experience in a software testing role.
o Great communication skills to highlight issues or blockers that need immediate attention
o Experience testing high dependency multi-tiered applications.
o Experience gained in an online transaction processing environment.
o Familiarity of testing practices such as TDD and BDD
o Ability to multi-task across different products and stages of the project life cycle.
o A Third-Level Degree such as Computing, Computer Science or related.
o Knowledge of testing mobile applications: iOS, Android

Desired requirements

What it’s like working here?

No two days are ever the same. We put an emphasis on results, not politics because let’s be honest, that’s what we all prefer. True team players are the norm with a fun vibe and a genuine willingness to help out their colleagues.
We pretty soon become your second family (not your second home…..we don’t want you here all the time!). We don’t just care about the skills you bring with you to the table or what you achieve for the Company. We do actually care about you. Hence everyone here isn’t treated like a number. We take the time to get to know you and what makes you tick.
We’re all about you owning your own development. Just because you’re currently on the Product team doesn’t mean you can’t join the Online Marketing team next week. In fact someone already did. You figure out where you want to take your career and we do our best to get you there.

Working with them

The work they all do here is interesting. Ask the Tech bunch….they are constantly challenged by in-house development and complex technology. They’ve created the market in which they operate so that means they regularly come across challenges that they’ve never seen before. That’s why having people who can think on their feet and enjoy problem solving is so important to them.
Everyone is approachable no matter if they’re a recent grad or a C-Level member. You can grab anyone and pop to the Top-Up bar for a coffee and run an idea past them, pick their brains or just have a catch up about your weekend.
New products, revenue milestones, birthdays, work anniversaries, weddings…………these are just some of the reasons for celebrations. Be prepared to have a bit of fun there.
But your time outside of work is important too. Everyone needs to have a life outside work. So if you’re off for dinner before the box office smash hit, want to get a spin class in before work, need to get out to see your kid’s school play then that’s what the flexible working hours are all about. It’s an honor system. There’s no clocking in and out. We’re grown-ups after all so we trust you’re not gonna muck it up for your team mates.
